C&C in 3D
Jan 4, 2000 9:38pm

Super CD out. DVD Audio still on the way
Jan 4, 2000 9:44pm
Now that the hackers have broken the DVD-Video Standard, it seems the companys pushing the DVD-Audio have decided to hold off releasing the gear and re-code the encryption so that it will be more secure. I don't know why they didn't in the first place. I was at Tweeters the other day, they had about 40-50 Super CDs on a shelf in the corner. Of course there was no Super CD players to play them in the store.   Super CD / DVD Audio Story

The Latest Bradley Campaign News
Jan 7, 2000 9:15pm
The Bradley campaign release two new television ads this week -- "Education" which will run in Iowa, and "Leadership" which will run in New Hampshire. Both ads can be viewed on the campaign web site,

The education ad features Bradley  talking about the importance of quality teachers, and highlights his  proposal to train and place 600,000 new teachers in America's  schools over the next 10 years. "Leadership" features Bradley emphasizing the need to  address the problems facing our country -- like gun violence, child  poverty and the millions of people without health insurance -- now,  while we're enjoying the prosperity that will make change possible.

Gores confusion on Creationism and Evolution
Jan 5, 2000 11:45pm
I was watching the debate tonight. Gore did it again, the earlier debate he screwed up as far as I could tell he said evolution when he meant creationism. So tonight in the debate he said what he meant last time.

01/05/00 I haven't found a source yet on this one, but this is pretty much what was said tonight. Al Gore asked about his religious views and alienating other religions. He said  Creationism has no place being taught in school I believe there should be a strong separation of church and state.

12/18/99 Al Gore again in a debate directly quoted "And I think that carries with it not only an obligation to respect the Constitution. For example, I think the Constitution forbids the teaching of evolution in schools, unless - except in religion class, not in science class." Quoted here.
08/27/99  WASHINGTON - Weighing in on a Kansas controversy,  Vice President Al Gore's campaign said Thursday he favors  the teaching of evolution in public schools but would not  oppose instruction in creationism if taught as part of a religious  course.
"They may teach creationism in the context of a religious course; that is clearly up to the local  districts to decide," said Alejandro Cabrera, speaking for Gore. He said Gore bases his opinion on   court rulings that allow the teaching of creationism as part of a religious course but not as a science.
The Kansas state school board this month adopted new testing standards that play down the scientific importance of evolution. Local school districts will decide what subjects are taught but critics and advocates of the new standards say the decision could bring more religion into the classroom.
The U.S. Supreme Court has forbidden the teaching of creationism, the belief that a higher power created the universe, because of the religious foundation of that idea.
"The vice president favors the teaching of evolution in public schools," Cabrera said.
"Obviously that decision should and will be made at the local level and localities should be free to decide their own curriculum," he said.

with every unlock code. From what I've read reverse engineering something isn't
considered illegal in the U.S.

Hmmm what does the MS in MSNBC stand for? I forget ?

Good old MS still has an injunction against them
so they wont be able to use the trademarked Java stuff from sun.
Hypotheticlly when you lincense and re-write someones code you can't
get away with that even if your a monolopy.
Oh yeah that whole Monopoly case maybe wrapping up too.

On the other side of the world, the japanese government had some hacker trouble too.  Its not just putting playboys links these hackers had some poltical motives. Story here

Just think politics in the year 2000 discredit your openent just by hacking into
his site. Why fight a war when you can wage a small hacker attack on some other country and screw with their infastructure./RANT OFF

VCDs are Totally Cool !!!!!
@Saturday, January 29, 2000 - 13:53:41 - tu
I finally did it. I have only been talking about it for 5-6 weeks,
I finally made my first VCD!!!.
A video cd is a compact disc that contains an mpeg-1 video stream..
I burned 11 Japanese Pop music videos to 1 vcd. A couple of the videos had sound problems, but I think the original audio wasn''t high enough like 11khz instead of 22 or 44khz. I wasn't sure it had worked until I fired it up in my Pioneer 302 DVD player, it can read VCDs and also works with CDRs.
