I was talking about the Shia slaughter actually.
The Kurds got gases on Reagan/Bush Sr. watch.
The kurds actaully got self Autonomy with the No Fly Zone.

Saddam Hussein and Chemical Weapons

An good old Rummy met with Saddam about the same time they were using WMD on the Iranians.

The Kurds problems go way, way back before President Bush, Clinton sat by and did nothing while they were being gassed as well.

In 1991, after the Gulf War, President Bush senior encouraged Iraqis to rise up against their leader. The opposition, including the Kurds of the north, believed this would mean the US would back a rebellion.

The Badr Brigades crossed the border into southern Iraq and Shia strongholds, including the holy city of Najaf on the Euphrates, rose in revolt. Lacking US support, it was brutally suppressed.

U.S. wary about promoting uprisings

President George H.W. Bush during the first Persian Gulf War in 1991, when he called on the Iraqi people to “take matters into their own hands.”
A subsequent insurrection by Iraqi Shiites and Kurds was put down with great ferocity and bloodshed by Hussein’s Republican Guard as the U.S. forces stood by, unwilling to intervene. Estimates of those killed ranged between 30,000 and 60,000.
