U.S. Use of Sniffer Dogs Infuriate Muslim Iraqis

"Down, down USA," shouted thousands of government employees angered by the
detention of a woman who refused to be searched by U.S. soldiers using a sniffer
dog at the Oil Ministry in Baghdad.

"We don't just want the dogs to leave. We want the dogs who are holding the
dogs to leave, every last one of them," said one employee, Nazir Mohammed.

US troops fire in the air to disperse Baghdad crowd
"Amal Karim asked them not to let the dog touch her bag
because there was a Koran inside," Said Assem

A US soldier approached and hurled the Muslim holy book to the ground, she said.
"Amal started shouting: 'Can you let American soldiers desecrate our holy Koran?'
And the crowd broke out in rage."

With all do respect, those Custom Officers did not bomb and invade your country. They did not take away your livlihood. They didn't invade your homes at gun point. They did not take away everything that you did have and leave you with nothing. Can you not for a moment even begin to know the way that they must feel? I know, if that happened to my country I would be infuriated! Unlike many European countries and North American countries, these people live their life around their religion. The people who invaded to 'save' and 'help' them should at least have respect for their culture. Yes there are Muslims that do horrific things but there are people from all walks of life that do horrific things. As for the pre-war terrorist acts, those that were Muslim were NOT Iraqis. I think a little understanding, education and some compassion would go a long way.

tell muslims not to blow themselves up in front of cafes and streets, there are people in there
tell them not top fly into buildings, because there are people in there.
tell them they should go to their muslimbrothers, that because of their actions , muslims get searched, and damn rightfully so.
i get searched in airport solely nbased on the fact that im dutch, so naive custom dudes think i have always some weed on me. am i complaining? am i suing them for discrimination?
hush now

I read about this the other day on Riverbend's site. If you want to read the journal of an Iraqi woman, she talks about this and raised some really valid points and expressed real feelings.
