What the hell am I doign still up? I of course took off the timestamp for various reasons
including getting teased by my dad for being up past normal peoples bedtimes.
So I recorded some TV stuff with a different soundcard than I had been using. No sound.
I decided while I was digging around in my case and scraping up my knuckles I would hook
up my secon Nvidia card into my machine. Some how it all works.

Had all kinds of fun today with the weather, rain snow etc.. The power went out once and
it flickered several times. The cable channels were gone for most of the day. Some of them
are still not working. No simpsons or Futurama tonight.I got of tired of trying all these different video settings. I switched over to TV out and tried
a bunch of different settings. I record at MPEG-1 640x480 4000kbps Sound 160kbps stereo
1 minute=30 megs, or 120 minute = 3600 megs, or 6 hours =10,800 megs
11+ hours of recording on my harddrive
Divx'ed my first TV movie. Lots of fun.
I turned a 1 hours 27 minute 2.92 gig MPEG-1 Movie into a 657 meg Divx 4.12 movie
640x480 800kbps video 96khz mono sound.

If I record at 640x480 filter and resize down to 512x384, I get a much better picture quality.
It's just like working in with images really. Smooth, resize, sharpen.

Shit, I twisted my ankle walking into work this morning. That one inch of snow was enough
to cover up some ice and of course I was going a little faster than a walk. I skinned my
left knee and twisted my right ankle. I guess it's time to check the online medical sites...
Of course the funny part is my wife told me to be careful because of the snow.
So I am going crazy with the whole video editing thing. I don't know anyone doing this stuff
so its a trial and error learning process for me.
Recording at 640x480 MPEG1 2500kbs/256 audio is so much better than anything at 320x240.
I can't uncompress to AVI because the files are so much larger, but I can cut and
append in Virtual Dub. I then export the video at 640x480 Divx 4.12
2 hours = 2.31 GB Roughly 1 Gig an Hour. Its a 19Gig partition I am using.

The disks aren't re-writeable and are 5 bucks a pop.
The lowest price IMAC2 is $1,299.00 without DVD-R or even DVD.
The DVD-R version is $1,799.00 (that sound a bit pricey)I don't see alot of firsttime computer buyers spending that kind of
money with the price point of a new PC is closer to half of that.
MAC people will probably love it, PC people might be intrigued.
I don't think alot of new customers will want to buy for their first PC.

Fun, Fun, I know I am a geek. I spent part of lunch dumpster diving in the back of a pickup truck
full of computer cases. I have 3 shopping bags of treasures. 5 1/4 inch drives, 3 1/2 inch ones.
a couple video card some modems a couple cpus, lots of floppy and IDE cables, a bunch of fans.
It's kinda funny because I had been planning to build my old system tonight. I guess I will have

Yeah so I have been encoding stuff with the Divx 4.14 and Virtual Dub
I am using the Lame Mp3 Codec Regular TV stuff just 112 mono, 128 stereo for videos etc...
If anyone has any useful tips or hints let me know.

So my Avermedia TV Studio card showed up today.
Very cool. No problems installing it into a my Windows 2000. This thing kicks ass, I had
an All-In-Wonder Pro card and this thing blows it away. The FM radio has 30 preset
FM Channels which you can label. The remote is great, with the program sleeping in
the systray you can power up the program with the remote.
A 11 minute VCD quality recording 320x240 is 115 megs. My system can do higher
but I have no way of storing anything much higher. Much above 320 shows off
how crappy cable is. This was a great way to spend 75 bucks. The frame capture
feature is pretty cool. I haven't played with the pause TV fuction but it looks interesting.
This 16 channel thing is cool, but I don't think I will use it much.

And Bar Napkins has a new logo.I did change webcam cameras, I was using an NTSC camera into an All-in-Wonder-Pro.
The all-in-wonder was getting a bit slow so I exchanged it for my PCI Geforce2 MX400.
So I had to hook up my CT Labs Webcam III. It puts out a nice picture but its lenses
is very different from the ntsc one.
File Sharing
Being the old timer that I am I'm a newbie to all this file sharing. I can remember the
day a found an alpha/beta copy of the game called doom on a ftp site in Canada.
I think I even had to reset my bios to get the day changed.
So anyway music and videos are getting bounced all over the internet with file
sharing programs. I recent messed around with Audio Galaxy but there are a
bunch of other ones too.

I've been thinking alot about this page, I sometimes want to peg down what it is or isn't
and it even defies me to classify it. I suppose I should worry about something else.
I was going through all the links on my page, what a mess. I didn't do anything special for
new years. My wife had to go drive her friend to jail to bail out her husband but other than
that it was a pretty boring evening. I am glad I am not the only one who
played computer games all day yesterday.
