People in those countries had widespread doubts that Arabs were involved in
the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States. The percentage that believed Arabs
were not involved ranged from 89 percent in Kuwait, which was liberated by U.S.
troops in the Persian Gulf war a decade ago, to 43 percent in Turkey, a NATO ally.

Ok so this HK movie was on Sci Fi this weekend, I taped it and watched it last night.
It was a classic HK flick, but I can't find any info on it.

JACKIE CHAN PRESENTS: METAL MAYHEM
Take two high-tech Hong Kong cops, a rogue American military robot, a
loose-cannon FBI agent and his femme fatale colleague in crime-fighting,
mix it all up with sci-fi martial-arts action, and what do you get? Metal
Mayhem, the sequel to the internationally popular Gen-X Cops. Souped-up
with a high-voltage soundtrack and the imprimatur of action maven Jackie
Chan, it's a rousing original. Starring Paul Rudd from Clueless

The real movie name is Tejing xinrenlei 2

Wilson County Tennessee votes to post 10 Commandments

Commissioner Annette Stafford said it was time for ''kids to get old-fashioned raising.''

''The Supreme Court could have done us all a favor and made a decision,
but it didn't,'' Jennings said last night, referring to the high court's refusal
yesterday to review a lower-court ban on public postings of the Ten Commandments.

The ACLU of Tennessee is preparing for its case in Hamilton County,
where the Ten Commandments have been posted in three public buildings.

Don't know much about this one, but it seems to make
a hell of alot more sense to the ten commandments.

Zen Buddhist the Ten Grave Precepts
1. I take up the way of not killing.
2. I take up the way of not stealing.
3. I take up the way of not misusing sex.
4. I take up the way of not speaking falsely.
5. I take up the way of not using drink or drugs.
6. I take up the way of not discussing faults of others.
7. I take up the way of not praising myself while abusing others.
8. I take up the way of not sparing the Dharma assets.
9. I take up the way of not indulging in anger.
10. I take up the way of not slandering the Three Treasures.

The Ten Commandments
The first four commandments are religious in nature,
uniquely related to Judeo-Christianity; they are offensive
to the followers of many other religions.

Two commandments are routinely broken by some Christian denominations.

There are three versions of the Ten Commandments in the Hebrew Scriptures

Analysis of commandments 1 to 5
Analysis of commandment 6 to 10

RA's take on the 10 Commandments

1. "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."
Yeah, um extremely religous. Rather silly really.

2. WTF?? I won't go near this one, its way too weird.

3. "Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain"
Umm, I got tired of waiting to be struck down for this one.

4. "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God
Yeah, everyone breaks this one.

5. "Honour thy father and thy mother"
This is very very vague, but yeah I guess I honor them.
It's a given and I think another to make an even 10.

6. "Thou shalt not kill."
Yeah, I killed alot of bugs. Eaten alot of
animals in my non-veggie days.

7. "Thou shalt not commit adultery."
Oral Sex=Sodomy - and Sodomy=adultery. Oh yeah
We try to break this one a couple times a week.

8. "Thou shalt not steal."
Never stollen an item, a few mp3s count though

9. "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour."
Just another silly one, probably added to make an even 10

10. "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house"
I covet my neighbors paintball gun and computer
and house....
Many many of my neighbors covet my Sony WEGA TV

Most christians I know break at least 4-5 of these.
I figuire I break about 8 of them. Hey you know what?
I am still one hell of a nice guy and a wonderful husband and father.

The appeals court held the Ten Commandments contained an inherently religious
text, and that the monument amounted to an endorsement of religion by the state.

The case is O'Bannon v. Indiana Civil Liberties Union, 01-966 was turned down by
the Supreme court today.

It was the second time in less than a year that
the court had sidestepped the Ten Commandments issue

I am glad still lucky to live in a country that doesn't force a religion upon its people.

Another bedroom farce
The Chicago Tribune, USA Today, Fred Barnes and others claim Clinton
had Ken Lay for a White House sleepover. One problem: Wrong president.
Lay did, however, stay at the White House when George H.W. Bush was president.

An interesting Guardian article about what to do with Iraq if we
did get rid of Sadam. Who would take his place and what effects
that might have on the area.

Side note. (no bombing for several months?)
Boeing's factory in Missouri is working 24 hours a day to replenish the stocks
of 1,000lb smart bombs that have been depleted by the war in Afghanistan.
The Pentagon says it will take about six months to make enough of the satellite
navigation systems that guide the bombs to their targets.

The Bush administration is no longer standing by a 24-year-old U.S. pledge not to use nuclear
weapons against non-nuclear states, a senior administration official said yesterday.

UN chief cautions against Iraq strike
O'Reilly interviewing Micheal Moore

From PI on the 20th
William Scott Ritter was a guest on the show and was a former UN inspector in Iraq.
They were talking about how to treat the Prisoners from Afghanistan.

Scott: And let me say something right here.
After September 11th, when we went after Afghanistan, we didn't do it as a police action.
We didn't call these guys criminals.
We did it in a military fashion.
Look at the initial briefings.

Bill: You're right.

We militarized the Taliban.
We went against the 55th brigade of Al Qaeda, recognizing that they were integrated with the Taliban.
We militarized it.
We treated them as if they were warriors in a conflict.
Therefore, we have an obligation, once we take them prisoners, to treat them as prisoners of war.

If we didn't want to, we should have called them criminals and arrested them.

I Am A: Neutral Good Elf Ranger Druid - Via Celeste (of course)

Alignment:
Neutral Good characters believe in the power of good above all else. They will work to make the world a better place, and will do whatever is necessary to bring that about, whether it goes for or against whatever is considered 'normal'.

Race:
Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently conccern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.

Primary Class:
Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.

Secondary Class:
Druids are a special variety of Cleric who serves the Earth, and can call upon the power in the earth to accomplish their goals. They tend to be somewhat fanatical about defending natural settings.

Storm over Afghan civilian victims
The Pentagon's embarrassment deepened further yesterday when
the newly released captives told US newspapers they had been badly
beaten while in detention.

A Pentagon spokesman last week claimed the two victims found with
their hands bound behind their backs might have been tied up by
Afghan forces operating alongside US soldiers. But a survivor of the
raid told the Los Angeles Times that he had seen his cousin lying face
down in the dirt being handcuffed by American soldiers. He later found
his corpse with gunshots in the neck, chest, and stomach.

U.S. Considers Actions Against Iraq
US denies attack on Saddam imminent
US considers ousting Saddam

George Bush will attempt to topple Saddam Hussein
with or without the support of allies like Britain, a Pentagon adviser says.

Interview with Brent Scowcroft
You've heard all the talk here in Washington about "We have to deal with Saddam Hussein now."
Will that destroy the coalition?
Brent Scowcroft :Yes, virtually instantly.

Iraq/Kurd Background Info
Tragedy in Iraq

TEN DAYS THAT SHOOK THE WHITE HOUSE
Bush (Sr.) had called "worse than Hitler." The New York Times reported on March 27
that the administration had "decided to let President Saddam Hussein put down rebellions
in his country without American intervention." This in the name of avoiding being dragged
into what the president called "a Vietnam-style quagmire," and in response to Saudi Arabian
and Turkish concerns about the possible disintegration of Iraq.

Reckless Disregard
The Kurdish issue at its core is simply this: A people with a distinct ethnic heritage aspires
to control its own ancestral domains and to be recognized as a nation-state in the modern world.

So I built another machine here at home this evening. It's going to be a linux box hopefully.
It's a Pentium 133mhz with 48 megs of ram and a 1 gig hard drive and a trident pci video card.
Had some problems with the secondary IDE channel and a crappy CDRom drive. The biggest
issue it is having is its age. I have to dig up another ps2/at keyboard adaptor and come
up with a serial mouse for the old 9pin serial port on the back. I have wanted to have a
spare machine to goof around with linux for awhile. I gotta keep up with my little bro.

Ok this audio sync problem will drive me nuts. I got an entire movie to convert correctly.
The problem seems to be when I start to slice the videos up and merging them. The next
trick is to convert from the original files the divx parts and save them in the same directory.
Maybe figuire out a way of merging the files together later.
I am still using Vidomi Encoder to convert the Mpeg2 files to Divx.
ProjectDivX 1.5 can do some merging options

I have been driving myself nuts with the whole video editting thing. I have been
having audio sync problems on long file conversions. The files record in mpeg1
or mpeg2 just fine, but are way too big to keep. I convert them to divx etc..
and that seems to work. I have found on longer 45-90 minute files the audio
and video don't match up. I have read some stuff on it but I recently found
this program that can convert mpeg2 dvd type files to divx and it fixes the
video/audio sync problem I had.
Perfect Mpeg2 to Divx program I have no idea why I didn't hear about it.
