Iraq flap lingering in Maine Schools
Maine Army National Guard Chaplain Andrew L. Gibson said Thursday that he knows of several
cases where students from military families have been subjected to insensitive, anti-war remarks
from principals, teachers, guidance counselors and some students. Gibson said the worst comments
about which he has heard were directed by teachers at two students, who are 7 and 9 years old.
"The teachers told the students what the Army is doing is unethical and that daddy could die
because that's what happens to soldiers," Gibson said. Antiwar talk in Maine's schools seen as offensive
He said some of the comments were made by students, others by teachers, in the classroom
and on the playground. Say it isn't so! kids are mean on the playground?
Sounds like maybe a couples teachers out of tens of thousands said some
inappropriate things to a few kids. The other cases were kids feeling uncomfortable
about talking about the coming war. As for the playgrounds, kids have been mean
on those forever and always will be. I think there was a slow news day and it's
gotten blown out of portions. I feel really bad that any child thinks people their
own parents are evil for going to war. It's not their fault, they are just doing what
the military has always done. I love how the Conservatives are running with this one.

Jehovah's Witnesses and Religious Liberty
According to their beliefs, the Bible forbids having any false idols before God; and since
all human governments are ultimately instituted by Satan, pledging to them would be a sin. Thank Jehovah's Witnesses for speech freedoms
Less than a week after the court decision, a Kingdom Hall was stormed and torched in Kennebunk,
Maine. American Legion posts harassed Witnesses nationwide. The American Civil Liberties Union
reported to the Justice Department that nearly 1,500 Witnesses were physically attacked in more
than 300 communities nationwide.
I have found no info on the Kennebunk, Maine story. I suppose people are too ashamed to
talk about it. I bet it would make some interesting Oral History.

Iraqis would become war refugees.
Some warn that 30 per cent of Iraqi children under age five would be

A Joke.
George W. Bush was curious whether he was still popular with the American
youngsters and therefore he visited a school. He gave a short speech and
asked the children if they had any questions. Bob raised his hand and said:
'I have 3 questions for you.'
1). How did you manage to win the elections with less votes than your opponent?
2). Why do you want to attack Iraq without the support of the UN?
3). Do you agree with me that the bombing of Hiroshima was the greatest act
of terror from the last century?
At that same moment the school bell rang and all children left the room.
After 15 minutes they returned and Bush again asked the children if they
had any questions.
This time Joey raised his hand and said: 'I have 5 questions for you.'
1). How did you manage to win the elections with less votes than your opponent?
2). Why do you want to attack Iraq without the support of the UN?
3). Do you agree with me that the bombing of Hiroshima was the greatest act of
terror from the last century?
4). Why did the school bell rang 30 minutes early?
5). Where's Bob?

Iraq Said to Plan Strategy of Delay and Urban Battle
Iraq plans to blow up dams, destroy bridges and burn oil fields, Pentagon officials say.
Once American and allied forces approach Baghdad, they will encounter two defensive
rings of elite Republican Guard forces, the Defense Department officials say. Many of
the Republican Guard forces are now dispersed, a move that is intended to help them
survive the airstrikes that would open the allied campaign. Some Republican Guard units
are equipped with chemical protective gear, as are Special Republican Guard units and
some intelligence and security forces inside BaghdadHow Hussein plans to slow U.S. attackers
If, and When: War's Timing
Some American military officials have focused on the moonless nights of early March
as the time to begin a bombing campaign, but other military leaders have suggested
that the beginning of combat operations could slide to the middle or latter part of the month.

I feel sorry and useless about the whole thing. Nobody is gonna change Bush's mind.
The whole Bush hasn't decided to goto war is bullshit, Rumsfield decided Sept 11th
and Bush probably didn't need any convincing. Everything since then has been to
legitimize this coming war. It's gonna be a fucking mess, whatever good comes
out of it will be out-weighed by amount of shit and damage it all causes. Saddam is
a horrible guys and he should go, but so are a dozen other guys like Kim Jong Il etc..
I just think this president is so simple minded he doesn't understand the far reaching
implications of what he is planning.

Rumsfeld Gave Bush List of Risks About War With Iraq
Rumsfeld said his list had grown to four or five pages with additions by other staff members.I've got some ideas whats on that list. I wonder if most people do?
Here's a real random one. We win the war, Sadam is killed and the war is over.
There is total anarchy in Baghdad after the war. Millions of people fighting
and taking revenge on each other and the U.S. troops can't keep the peace.
Sunnis and Shi'tes attack each other, Kurds fight to break away and form a state.
Add some hardcore Republican Guards that don't wanna give up and a whole
