Origins of Easter
Many religious historians believe that the death and resurrection legends were
first associated with Attis, many centuries before the birth of Jesus. They
were simply grafted onto stories of Jesus' life in order to make Christian
theology more acceptable to Pagans.

Easter at Camp X-ray
Although most of detainees are Muslim, there are a few Christians being held at the camp.

Prisoners Nationalities
They come from 33 different countries, including some Western nations,
and range widely in age and education level.
there are dozens of Saudis, Yemenis and Pakistanis with smaller numbers
from countries including Britain, Algeria, Egypt, Australia, France, Russia,
Belgium, Denmark and Sweden.
One detainee has been identified as 22-year-old Mehdi-Muhammed Ghezali from Sweden.
Swedish officials have expressed frustration that the United States isn't more forthcoming
with charges against detainees.

Lawyers claim taking down the Ten Commandments from a courthouse wall might injure the
limestone wall. I hear they suggest giving it the ashcroft treatment with a drape.
They don't wanna take it down during the appeal process. Like they have any legal chance
on keeping it up.

U.S. District Judge Stewart Dalzell ruled that the Ten Commandments are primarily a religious
document and their admonition to honor no other God amounts to a government endorsement
of one religion.

US soldier 'died in friendly fire'
The disclosure came as part of report making public some of the findings into 10 cases
of friendly fire and civilian casualties since the war in Afghanistan began nearly six months ago.
The report confirmed that US communications and procedural errors resulted in several other
friendly-fire incidents causing the deaths of American soldiers in Afghanistan. It also found
the US was not at fault in several other incidents that caused casualties to innocent civilians

Free Notebook?
I got a call a couple days ago. "hi do you dispose of broken notebook computers?" I said no, but
I said I could dispose of it. I figuire I could pull some parts out of it or whatever. So I got it today.
Its an old Dell Latitude XP 450C, A 486-50mhz machine with 12 megs and a 300 meg hard drive.
So I plug it in and fire it up, the windows 95 software was corrupt, I re-installed 95 and now I
have a old free color notebook. It has a grovy Panasonic KXL-D745 4X CD-ROM drive on a
PCMCIA card with built in sound. It came with a original dell 14.4 modem and a new 56k modem.
I have the cd-rom/sound and the modem working in it.

I was talking about the Burger King Veggie Burgers the other day.

So I have been to Burger King twice in the past week. I tried the new BK Veggie, flame-broiled veggie burger. This is pretty cool thing for Veggies like me. I haven't had a fast food burger in something like 6 or 7 years. The funny thing was I heard about them 3-4 months ago and asked someone at the local burger king if they had heard about them. I guess Burger King is going to advertise them. Even for non veggies they are still very healthy.

The taste is a nice, not strong flavor to or too spicy. There are lots of ground up goodies in it and it has a good texture, not gooey or to dry. This is a Veggie burger not a vegan burger, but I guess some vegans eat it. I am a vegetarian that doesn't sweat the small stuff. From further reading they are cooked on the same grills, I guess vegan/veggies can request to have it nuked instead of flamed. I was trying to find some pictures of it online, I couldn't. I guess I will have to disect one for my digital camera.

BURGER KING - Launches First-ever Veggie Burger
The flame-broiled, soy-free patty offers a blend of vegetables, grains and spices
on a sesame seed bun. Topped with reduced fat mayonnaise, lettuce and tomatoes,
the burger provides a leaner fast-food alternative only 10 grams of fat and 330 calories.
A Whopper has 39 grams of fat and 680 calories.

5 (scored - 20)
Fives are basically on some level estranged from the rest of the world, consequently, their mind is usually their best friend. They like to analyze things and make sense of them (that is their anchor), this makes them great inventors and philosophers. The immense inner world of fives can cause them to lose touch or interest in reality.

4 (scored 18)
Fours are all about being unique and creating their own distinct culture. They experience the highs and lows of life more intensely than other types. This makes them great creative forces (artists, writers, filmmakers). Fours often feel like misplaced children, and they long for a sense of real family.

9 (scored 18)
Nines are open minded optimists. They are able to see everyones point of view, and have a natural desire for making peace. Consequently, they are skilled mediators. They often live by the 'go along to get along' creed. However their openess to other people can cause them to lose site of themselves and their own happiness.

I added a Diablo V-force Armour mask, its very cheap and doesn't fog and has great

I have been goofing around with Divx5 lately. I am trying to see how small I can get movies so
I can use them with my handheld and pocket divx. I am crunching the movies to 288-192 and
sometimes cropping them to 224-182. The bit rate is around 112-116Kbps and the audio
32khz at 24kbp/sec. That makes the movies around 112-120 megs. I have no idea sinc I don't
yet have my handheld how watchable the movies are, but I am very curious. Nothing like taking
a handheld with a couple full length movies on it to pass the time.

Q-bert has all Divx/DVD software I could ever need.
I mainly use Smart Ripper 2.40 and FlaskMpeg, although I just tried CladDVD XP 1.3 which
did a great job. I also use Virtualdub to do the final Divx5 file.

Iraq has asked the UN whether U.S. actions toward Saddam Hussein violate international law.
Iraq has accused some U.S. and British inspectors in the former U.N. inspection agency
of spying for the West. The queries also have the potential of splitting the 15-nation
Security Council, particularly if members decide to take a position on U.S. threats of
action against Saddam, which numerous countries oppose at this time. Specifically,
Sabri asked if "threats to invade Iraq and to change the national government by force
violate Security Council resolutions (and) rules of international law."

William Scott Ritter a US Weapons Inspector was on Politically Incorrect talking about spying.

Ritter: But what I'm trying to tell you is, when we bombed Iraq in December of 1998,
America, we're the ones that ripped up the international agreement.
We used the weapons inspectors, my team, to spy on Iraq.
Not to get weapons of mass destruction is what the law said but to get rid of Saddam Hussein.
Our unilateral policy, not the security council's policy, that's why there's no inspectors in there today.

MPEG has adopted 3 ways to compress every picture frame, which are
"I frame" (Intraframe),
"P frame" (Predicted frame)
"B frame" (Bi-directional frame).
These three frames are explained as follows:

I-Frame (Intraframe pictures): I-frames typically are the first frame
of each GOP moderately compressed, and serves as the reference points
for random access and can be likened to images.

P-Frame (Predicted pictures): P-frames are coded with reference to past
pictures, predict in a forward direction, and are moderately
compressed.

B-Frame (Bi-directional pictures): B-frames' predictions are forward,
backward and bi-directional, which is relative to the other I-frames
and P-frames. Compression is at a high level.

Operation Anaconda Under Scrutiny
U.S. officials quickly upped their estimate of the number of al-Qaida and
Taliban in the valley to somewhere between 500 and 1,000 a figure some
Afghan commanders believe is too high.

Afghans Question Anaconda's Success
"Americans don't listen to anyone," said Commander Abdul Wali Zardran.
"They do what they want. Most people escaped. You can't call that a success."
Killing or capturing the enemy is the whole purpose of guerrilla warfare and the
principal measure of success. Otherwise, they say, the opponent will fight again
somewhere, someday

"I remember once the Russians were bombing and bombing," former guerrilla
Mullah Mohammed Khaqzar said. "We left the area in groups of five and 10.
We stayed away hidden in the mountains until we knew it was over and then we returned."

His advice for winning the war is
"to know where they are hiding and then send in small commando units to take them out."

My little brother finally posted some info on my sister inlaws acting job. They moved out to LA so this
Colby College graduate could persue a career in acting. Well it has payed off =)

Sandra's Big Night
I went and watched Sandra tape her appearance on the Drew Carey show on Tuesday. It was way cool, because of the wonderful world of LA traffic I almost missed it :( but I made it. I felt cool because they were holding a ticket for me and I could just go right through.

Unfortunatley we couldn't see Sandra actually in person, because her set was off to the side, but we got to see it on the monitors. She was really good, the episode was way funny. It should be on in 3-5 weeks.

After the show we went to a bar near the studio and hung out with the cast and crew. Drew and Ryan Stiles were there. It was a little weird to see them as just guys having a beer after work.

New Fighting in Afghanistan
In Afghanistan on Sunday morning, a team of Army Special Forces soldiers attacked a convoy of three vehicles about 45 miles southwest of the city of Gardez, killing 16 people believed to be al-Qaida fighters and wounding one. One other was detained, Rosa said.

In a separate incident shortly after the firefight, U.S. forces captured 31 suspected al-Qaida or Taliban fighters in a compound west of the city of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan, officials said. Rosa said weapons and a large amount of ammunition were captured in the compound. He had no other details

Rosa also said U.S. military officials were pleased with the outcome of Operation Anaconda, although he would not discuss how many enemy fighters may have been killed in those battles, which began March 2. He said whatever the body count, the al-Qaida had been disrupted and put on the run.

I don't think this qualifies as news...

So I know I don't talk much about stuff I do unless its paintball related.
Well Saturday my wife and I went to the Black Bull Tavern to see Bill
play locally in Blind Albert
They are a local band that doesn't play many local gigs. So
when they do play locally its nice to try and catch them.

The other major thing I did this weekend was of course paintball related.
A bunch of us went to our Paintball field and put in a few more hours of
work. Mostly clearing out brush and putting up the barricades and walking
the field. I was able to shoot a few rounds of paint off too. We put
up these evil tin barracades that make an insane about of noise when
they are shot. The field is actually in the woods it's not in a field.
Its about 600-700 feet long and 300-350 feet wide. There is alot
of cover and of course some barracades and bunkers. We played there
four or five times last year, but we have put alot more work into making
it much more playable.

I found a couple cool programs that work with my Avermedia TV Studio card.
RC4Mpeg
This program lets you use your remote on Winamp and there is a video player
that supports the remote. So TV out of my computer will work with the Avermedia Remote.

Someone suggested I try TMPGEnc. I found the newer one does alot more and is easier
to use than some other programs. I can do perfect 320x240 VCD conversion now.
I got some help from Doom9.org Forum. Those guys know their shit.
I should be able to convert higher quality 640x480 720-480 files to vcd format.
I would like to play around with higher views but my DVD player is kinda weird on
those 720-480 mpeg2 discs I made. I will have to try 320x240 MPEG2 format sometime.

Where are the bodies?
Al-Qaeda dead have vanished
Allies find few bodies from battle

SENIOR Afghan commanders yesterday raised questions about the
success of the intense 12-day US military operation in the
mountains at Shahikot when they admitted that hundreds of al-Qaeda
and Taleban fighters escaped the battle.

Enemy may have slipped the trap, officials suggest
Afghan commanders said they had found 25 corpses since the area fell under
allied control Wednesday. U.S. forces say they are holding 20 prisoners.

Many of those who had hunkered down in the fortified caves of the Shah-e-Kot
valley had escaped from the caves of Tora Bora, the official added.

Britain's military leaders issued a stark warning to Tony Blair
last night that any war against Iraq is doomed to fail and would

I have been playing with my TV Card and having too much fun. I wish I knew someone who is
or is trying to do the stuff I am doing. I basiclly want to turn my PC in a TiVo box with the
option of removing commericials and burning the content to CDR. I have tried several different
methods none entirely sucessful or easy.

My latest method.
I record something at 720x480 MPEG2 1350 Kbps 29.70 Fps, 224Kps mp3 audio.
I manually start and stop the recordings were I want. (Pain in the butt)
45-50 minutes end up being around 550-650 megs.
This is were it gets weird.
I use Nero to burn a standard VCD with these non-compliant mpeg2 files.
This crazy XVCD will now play in my Pioneer DV-302D DVD Player.
It does VCDs and can read CDRs, most players can't read CDRs.
I have no idea if this will work in any other DVD player that can read CDRs.
The quality is right around VHS, I am sure I can improve it too.
The problem is there are just too many variables or options to try.
If anyone is doing crazy stuff like this email me, I wanna discuss methods options etc...

Afghans say al-Qaida fighters are running out of ammunition

U.S.-led forces pursue fleeing al-Qaida, Taliban fighters
U.S. officials said they were holding about 20 prisoners and they were being interrogated.
One Afghan commander, Naeem, said he had talked to one injured Afghan fighter who
claimed there were about 14 Arab commanders and about 250 Chechens in the region
at the start of the campaign.

The US military says American fighter jets attacked a vehicle in eastern
Afghanistan on March 6, killing 14 people, including women and children.

If that operates anything like in the Ghost Recon game, I would not

(OICW FAQ)

An air bursting 20mm high explosive munition can be programmed to
detonate up to 1000 meters down range with a shoulder fired weapon.

So you laser rangefinder someone behind some object you can't shoot.
Set one of the 20mm rounds to detonate 1-2 meters behind the obstacle.
Boom, you have a gun that practically shoots around corners now.

Firing 3-4 rounds of 40mm takes up to 40 seconds.
With OICW, 6-8 rounds of 20mm can be fired in less than 5 seconds.

OICW’s 20mm HE round weighs only 1/4 pound compared to the M203’s 40mm
round weight of 1/2 pound – a 50% comparison weight savings with substantially
more effectiveness.

The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, which represents the 1.5 million Conservative Jews in the United States, has just issued a new Torah and commentary, the first for Conservatives in more than 60 years. Called "Etz Hayim" ("Tree of Life" in Hebrew), it offers an interpretation that incorporates the latest findings from archaeology, philology, anthropology and the study of ancient cultures. To the editors who worked on the book, it represents one of the boldest efforts ever to introduce into the religious mainstream a view of the Bible as a human rather than divine document.

Attracting most attention is Ambling Through History, an account of Bush's 2000
presidential campaign written by New York Times writer Frank Bruni, which begins
with an account of a memorial service Bush attended for seven people killed in a
church shooting in 1999. 'As preachers preached and singers sang and a city prayed,
Bush turned round from time to time to shoot us [reporters] little smiles. He
scrunched up his forehead, as if to ask silently what we were doing back there.
He wiggled his eyebrows, a wacky and wordless hello,' he writes. 'It is astonishing
that he wasn't more concerned that one of the television or still cameras might
catch him.'

The bible isn't true? -via hypocrites.com
Abraham, the Jewish patriarch, probably never existed. Nor did Moses.
The entire Exodus story as recounted in the Bible probably never occurred.

It seems unlikely that the story of Genesis originated in Palestine. More likely,
Mr. Wexler says, it arose in Mesopotamia, the influence of which is most apparent
in the story of the Flood, which probably grew out of the periodic overflowing
of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The story of Noah, Mr. Wexler adds, was
probably borrowed from the Mesopotamian epic Gilgamesh.

I have a copy of Gilgamesh and I have read it. Very weird cool stuff.

Battle Sends Broader Message of U.S. Resolve
In launching a ground offensive in the dead of winter in some of the harshest terrain
in Afghanistan, the U.S. military seems bent not only on crushing a pocket of al Qaeda
fighters but also on sending a broader message: that it is willing to put troops in harm's
way as it prosecutes the war on terrorism.
At least we are getting our hands dirty this time, not letting others fight our battles.

I've been playing with Divx5 I converted an hour show with Divx 5. It looks really really good.
I converted it to 480x360 Divx5 1200kbps with 32khz 96kbps audio only 546 megs.

Divx5 Codec is out.
I guess there is a basic and a pro version now. Pro you pay for or an adware version.

Features of DivX 5.0
Compatibility with all versions of DivX video content. DivX 5.0 can play
every version of DivX video ever created, from prior to 3.11 alpha to the
brand new DivX Pro 5.0.

MPEG-4 compatibility. DivX 5.0 can decode MPEG-4 Simple Profile, MPEG-4
Advanced Simple Profile, and H.263 video (all levels). It is also able to
encode fully MPEG-4 Simple Profile compliant video (ISO/IEC 14496-2).

DivX(tm) MPEG-4 file format. Full support (encoding and decoding) for the brand
new MPEG-4 based file format that replaces the venerable AVI file format.

A new version of Zoom Player 2.50? is supposed to be out.
I haven't been able to find it just yet.

Vidomi Version .429 is out now.

I record my stuff to Mpeg2 and use vidomi to convert it down to divx mpeg4.

I guess 1.45 Patch for OFP is out
I think I am still running 1.40, they sorta are patch happy over there.

Had another LAN party friday night. Everyone had alot of fun,we played for 6-7? hours.
We played Operation Flashpoint, Ghost Recon, and the Medal of Honor Demo.
There were six of us, that is about the most we seem to be able to get together at once.
That Medal of Honor demo was alot of fun even if someone spanked
us all pretty hard. Its one of those you forget to blink games.

Going deep into the whole ball size barrel size thing.
Barrel Sizes
Barrel Chart
Barrels
Paint/barrel sizes
PB Gurn Barrel
Paintball Chart

Armson Stealth 8", 10", 13", 16"
-Advertised Bore: N (.691d) .688e
-Measured Bore: .687 - .691***
-Bore Description: Small

Great American - Medium - .688 - .690
Great American - Banana Ball - Medium - .688 - .690
Great American - Sour Apple - Medium - .688 - .690
32 Degrees - Medium - .689 - .691
Brass Eagle Top Brass - Medium - .689 - .691

Place the paintball inside the barrel.
Blow. If the paintball rolls out before you blow, the paint you are using is to small for the barrel.
If the paintball gets stuck in the barrel, the paint is too big. If you blow it out without it getting
stuck or rolling out, you got yourself a good paint to barrel match.

(That PMI stuff I used in my PMI gun rolled out the barrel.)
