In the past, when it was convenient to the Administration, they did not hesitate
to cite Amnesty to make its case. And nowhere did the Administration need more
help than in selling the Iraq war.

At least three child detainees were among those released, but at least
two other people who were under 18 at the time of their detention were
believed to remain in Guantánamo by the end of the year.
The investigations found that there had been “approximately 300 recorded cases
of alleged abuse in Afghanistan, Guantánamo and Iraq.” On 9 September, Major Paul Kern,
who oversaw one of the military investigations, told the Senate Armed Services Committee
that there may have been as many as 100 cases of “ghost detainees” in US custody in Iraq.
During the year, released detainees alleged that they had been tortured or ill-treated
while in US custody in Afghanistan and Guantánamo. Evidence also emerged that others,
including Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents and the ICRC, had found that
such abuses had been committed against detainees.

The ICRC believes that the US continues to detain two juveniles i.e. detainees
under 18 years of age at Guantanamo Bay. International law recognises that juveniles
in detention have special needs and must therefore be treated differently from adults.
For many detainees at Guantanamo Bay more than two and a half years have passed since
their arrest. The ICRC has always maintained that those detainees remaining in
Guantanamo Bay should either be charged and tried, released, or be placed within
a legal framework that governs their continued detention.
the ICRC is increasingly concerned about the fate of an unknown number of people captured
as part of the so-called global war on terror and held in undisclosed locations. For the ICRC,
obtaining information on these detainees and access to them is an important humanitarian
priority and a logical continuation of its current detention work in Afghanistan and
Guantanamo Bay. Dialogue continues with the US authorities to resolve this issue.

So I saw Star Wars ep. III with my wife yesterday. It was a different theatre with
Dolby Digital EX. I think between the EX and a darker brightness setting the movie felt
much more suspenseful and less distracting. The darker scene didn't show off the
overly computerized special effects and the sounds kept you on the edge of your seats.
The scene with yoda hanging by his nails was completely different with the EX sound.
In the end I felt more involved/effected by the entire movie than the first showing.

2:50am Just got back from Episode III. Wow, they covered so much ground. It was even
more fast paced than II was. I enjoyed it even though George Lucas directed it.
I guess I went mostly to see all the loose ends tied up. I was a bit distracted with some of
the CG in the movie. It worked in most places and then you would get this scene that just
ruins the feeling. I suppose he will fix those next time around. Anyway I had fun and it was
the best of the new three for me.There was a dozen people dressup this time. I don't remember anyone dressing up for
episode I, I blame the Internet. If your a parent don't let you 16-17 year old daughter
dress up as a Slave Girl and go to opening night. The testosterone in there was at lethal levels.
The majority of the crowd seemed to be Episode I,II gen kids. I guess us old people aren't
supposed to stay up that late anymore. So they were filming the crowds for some reason
and there were newspaper people there. I'm not sure what the historical value of filming
the local movie theater really will be.

Pre-E3 2005: Battlefield 2 Hands-onI went with my buddy Pete last night and saw Unleashed
It is probably Jet Li's best U.S. non CHinese/HK film he has done. Hero is still probably gonna always be my favorite. The cool thing was it's a movie with fighting scenes, but there is a real story to it, not just bunch of fights put together. Yuen Wo-ping knows how to choreographer a fight scene for Jet Li. I've really felt most of his other U.S. movies weren't using all his skills. The movie written and produced by Luc Besson and it does reminds me a bit of Kiss of the Dragon.
I went in just to watch it, I didn't read up on it and I was surprised to see that Morgan Freeman was in it.

Pit Bulls Kill Owner In Home
Two pet pit bulls with no apparent history of aggression and described as
well-kept attacked and killed their owner inside his suburban St. Louis home.
Autopsy: Dogs killed owner
Theresa Williams, director of St. Charles County Animal Control, said that the dogs
were destroyed Thursday. She added that the animals did not appear to be purebred,
but were definitely part pit bull."These dogs are very healthy, and they have obviously been well-cared for, probably all their
lives," Williams said. "So this man treated these animals as pets and took good care of them."

Ok, I was looking at some screenshots of Battlefield 2 and saw some
locked weapons. The game will feature alternate weapons you can
use only when you earn enough points. The Stats/ranking will only
be on the EA official servers. It's very interesting reading.
The rank also effect your chances of being Commander or Squad leader.
There will be three sides, but no 1vs1vs1 maps.

DCF spokesperson Marilyn Munoz told the Sun-Sentinel that the agency
will "respectfully comply with the court's decision." And the South Florida Sun-Sentinel
