14 Marines Killed In Iraq Blast
The Marines, assigned to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division,
II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), were killed in action early Wednesday
when their vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device, the military said.
One Marine was also wounded.
The incident occurred during combat operations just outside of Haditha.Six other U.S. Marines were killed in Haditha on Monday.

Seven US Marines killed in Iraq
It was not immediately clear if they were killed in a
single attack or if they died in clashes with insurgents.Six of the Marines were killed near Haditha, a town on the Euphrates river 200km
northwest of Baghdad. The seventh was also killed yesterday, by a car bomb blast
in the town of Hit, about 70km southeast of Haditha.
US forces have launched at least two major offensives in the area around Haditha
and further west towards the Syrian border in the past three months to try to quell
guerrilla activity in the region. Often insurgents flee when US troops arrive, only to
return a few days later once the offensive is over.
